EverQuest 2 Origins Solo Leveling Guide – Anashti Sul Leveling
Classic EverQuest 2 (including the first few expansions) is an MMO that is largely meant to be played and enjoyed in a group, and soloing can be very challenging. That challenge can be a lot of fun for certain players though, and soloing is possible if you have some time.
Soloing isn’t a straight path though in EQ2, and players will likely need to combine many different activities to level up at later levels, including questing, grinding, tradeskilling, plat farming, collections, and more.
In the original EverQuest 2, you also used to be able to explore for XP but that feature has been removed from Origins, at least for now.
Soloing to max level in EQ2 will take a long time, so we encourage most players to mix in grouping as well unless you really enjoy soloing and want a challenge.
Choosing a Class
Not all classes are equal in EQ2 when it comes to actually being able to solo. All the classes can solo, but generally, the Fury, Conjuror, and Necromancer are considered the best solo classes.
EQ2 Atlas
It is strongly recommended that you download the EQ2 Atlas plugin before starting your journey. It will make leveling a lot easier as it will show quest waypoints and points of interest on the map.
Bonus XP
There are a few sources of bonus XP in EQ2.
The most common type is Vitality which is gained at 0.5% per hour. When you have active vitality you will gain double the XP from combat.
You can also purchase 5 and 10% XP potions from the Marketplace.
Additionally, there will occasionally be events that will grant bonus XP.
Items and Gear
Unless you have a lot of gold on another character, don’t focus too much on gearing early on.
Go for offensive stats as early as you want to be killing mobs and finishing quests quickly. At later levels, it can be wise to start focusing on defensive stats when soloing.
Try to upgrade your gear every 10 levels.
Also, be sure to get some decently sized bags and high-regen food and drink. Spirit Totems are also very good when soloing as they will increase your regen, lowering your downtime.
Level 1 – 7
First off, complete the tutorial to reach level 2.
On the starter island, you can either start doing the quests at once, or you can grind a level or two before you start to get ahead a little. This will make very little difference but the first few levels are fast to grind.
If you only finish the quests you will be around level 5. If you grind a few levels you can get to around level 7 and a half before leaving the island.
You can either turn in the collections or you can save them for a few levels in case you run out of quests.
Level 8 – 13
Once you leave the island you will be in either Qeynos or Freeport. Each city has a number of low-level zones, and it is important that you do the available quests in all of the zones. It is much better to move between zones, completing the quests you have available, rather than only working on one zone.
Go through all the city zones as well and pick up any available quests. Save heroic quests or hard quests until they turn green if you can’t finish them, and then try them again or group up.
You will need to find alternate sources of XP at some point, as you will run out of quests. I personally like to grind the last 10% or the first 10% of a level (or both).
You can also start turning in collections when you run out of quests. Many early collections can be bought cheaply on the market. Save higher-level collections for later.
Level 14-19
At some point after level 10, you can start combining quests in the city zones with either Antonica or the Commonlands. Here there are quite a lot of quests, but I usually run out at around levels 13 and 16.
At this point, leveling will really start to slow down, and it is more efficient to start farming plat to buy collections than to grind. You can start gathering materials to sell along with collection items for plat. Always sell high-value collection items and buy cheaper ones that you are missing.
Level 20+
At around level 20 it is time to move on to Nektulos Forest or The Thundering Steppes. Continue doing quests, while picking up collectibles and gathering for plat.
